Significance of Exercise After Drug Rehab

Exercise is always healthy irrespective of the condition of a person. Even when a person is healthy, he must follow a regular exercise routine, as suggested by a doctor.

After any physical illness a doctor suggests to do exercise. Here the exercise must be according to the illness and physical/mental state of the person.

Improving the physical state of the body

After a person goes through drug rehabilitation, his body goes through various changes. He has to take different drugs to get to the normal state of physical health. He must focus on the diet as well as on the protein and vitamin intake. Exercising not only improves the blood circulation but helps in generating healthy hormones in the body.

Preparing to take the rehab treatment

A drug rehabilitation session can be quite stressful both from the physical as well as the mental point of view. The heavy doses of medicine, the impact of counseling session etc are not so easy.

Exercising helps in giving the body a fitness to indulge in these sessions. It is rightly said that a heavy mind is a heavy body, so exercise is important. Any rehabilitation center will have trained staff that can guide the patients regarding which exercises to perform during and after the rehab therapy.

An added advantage

During a drug rehab session, a person is subjected to various recreational activities that helps him to cope with the situation. After a while he is trained to carry on without drug so that the body is not addicted to medicine. Here an exercise will add on to give an added advantage.

The patient is always engaged in recreation activity and he finds a way to kill time. It is noted that exercising helps in building a positive attitude and thus is a must recommended.

Types of exercises

A rehabilitation therapist recommends the most appropriate type of exercise to suit the patient’s condition. Since, every rehabilitation session is different, so the exercise will also be different. Here are few common types of exercises:

Cardio exercise

The most common type of exercise is the cardio one. Here the person, under the guidance of the trainer, learns to strengthen the cardio muscles. Care is taken that not too much pressure is given to the patient at the first case. Slowly the intensity of the exercise is increased and the improvement is marked.

Outdoor exercise
Outdoor exercise is the best one. one can enjoy the outdoor scenic beauty and exercise at the same time.. Light to medium exercises can be included in outdoor ones.

Yoga

Yoga is timeless. It does not matter how much we advance, the benefits of yoga cannot be defined by any modern exercise.

These types of exercises must be done only under medical supervision. The type of exercises differ according to the situation.

Drug Rehabilitation Program

There are few things in your life that just happened and you wished they never had happened. Drug addiction can be one of those things.

No one can get back in time to change, as one does not have a time machine. However, there is one solution for this. You can go for drug rehabilitation program, which can definitely help you refrain from this habit of yours.

Drug rehabilitation is the most important thing that will help you to get out of the bad situation. If it is you who has succumbed to drug abuse or else there is someone you care about in such case drug rehabilitation is the last best chance you have.

Enrolling oneself in the drug rehabilitation program is not an easy task. It actually means
admitting weakness and susceptibility. It means to accept that you have a problem you cannot solve by yourself. This is the most difficult truth for many drug addicts that they will ever have to face.

However, the decision is difficult but it is worth it. Drug rehabilitation is a treatment used to treat drug dependency, which cannot be treated with professional help and care.

Before you go for the treatment, it is suggested to find out the drug rehab center right for you. There are various drug rehabilitation centers to choose from. Selecting the right center may completely change the life of the affected patient. It is essential to take a note that an alcohol or drug addicted person cannot be cured completely immediately. It is a slow process, which recovers gradually.

The treatment in the drug rehab center depends on the drug to which the patient is addicted. Most of the teenagers as well as the adults are addicted to street and prescription drugs. Street drugs contain heroin, cocaine or amphetamines, while prescription drugs contain alcohol.

The drug rehabilitation program involves both physical as well as psychological treatment. The physical treatment involves drug detoxification, which washes out the entire harmful chemical from the body. In the psychological treatment, the counselor tries to find the reason behind the addiction problem.

When you are searching a specific rehabilitation center, it is necessary to focus on number of factors such as:
• Look out whether the program is licensed and accredited
• Check out how effective the program is
• See to what after care services they offer

Drug rehabilitation is the best option for those who are struggling with a drug addiction. Select the right drug rehabilitation center (from here http://www.rehabilitations.org/rehab-centers.html) with care, and watch your drug addiction disappear – over time, of course!

Drug Addiction

This term, drug rehab or drug rehabilitation, is used for the processes of psychotherapeutic or medical treatment for addiction of any kind of drug. The main aim behind this process is to enable the patient to discontinue excessive or improper use of a substance.

Drug rehab is gaining more and more importance in the world today, as the numbers of such cases are rising, in all age groups of men and women. Drug addiction is a mental disorder wherein a person cannot survive without a narcotic drug. This addiction starts with him/her taking drugs, which later on becomes compulsive and all the actions are controlled by the drug.

There are a lot of methods used for rehabilitation. Medicating, counseling, therapies, etc are the common ones. Every individual reacts differently to the treatment, thus the treatment is given according to the persons need.

Drug rehabilitation includes two types of drug dependencies, they are:
  • Psychological dependency:
This is used in various drug rehab centers to teach the patient how to live in a completely drug free environment. During this treatment span, the patients are not allowed to be associated with friends who are still using the addictive substances.
  • Physical dependency:
This includes removal of all toxic substance from the patient’s body, so as to cope with the drug abuse withdrawal symptoms from daily drug usage.

The most addictive drugs are cocaine, heroin and nicotine. During these programs, the addict is observed, in spite of being under the effect of the drug. Due to high usage of drugs, the sudden halt in the intake of drugs could lead to withdrawal symptoms and the body may take many weeks or months to go back to normal.

Drug addiction is a major problem, all over the world. Hence, the rehab centers are located in every city and town to help addicts get rid of their addiction. The treatments for the addicts usually include awareness education, treatment and counseling about the drugs. Some centers also focus on the mental attitude and proper nutrition of the addict as well. All these programs basically depend on the length of the inpatient or outpatient treatments and also on the costs of such treatments.

Though there are outpatient programs available in the rehab centers, the doctors prefer the inpatient programs for the patient as it is the first step in recovery. Within just twenty-eight days of such a program the patient experiences relief from drug usage. After completion of inpatient program, the centers suggest an aftercare program. This program includes individual or group meetings taken twice or thrice a week, to ensure that the addict is on the course of recovery. This aftercare program is helpful for the addict to return to daily life overcoming his/her anxiety or fear of going back to drug usage after the treatment. Thus, the addict is given all the support needed to complete his/her recovery programs.
